Ever notice that the box matches come falls apart instantly once it gets a little bit wet? Or that it loses its structural integrity after a couple camping trips?
Not going to happen with the mason jar matchbook!
All this requires is a half-pint jelly jar, sandpaper cut to fit its ring, and matches. Lots of matches.
I’d avoid using anything but strike anywhere matches which will flame up fine on sandpaper.
If your sandpaper is flimsy and thin, use some thin cardboard behind it.
Here’s an advanced matchjar technique – cut a tiny hole in the sandpaper and you can get matches out without ever having to open up your jar!
